Again, Pokemon GO Player Arrested by Police During Lockdown
A while ago, we heard about a man in Italy who was arrested by the police. He was arrested for leaving the house during the lockdown, and the reason he did so was to play Pokemon GO.
Now a similar incident is happening again in other countries. How can this happen again? Let’s see the following news.
Forced Return
Niantic as the developer of this AR game has actually provided a feature that allows players to access it only from inside the house. But a player in the south of England violated the lockdown rules caused by the Coronavirus.
The official Stevenge Police Twitter account, which arrested the man, tweeted this message to all southern England residents still involved in the game: “Driver explains he is in the #PokemonGO playing area. Pokemon GO is NOT a travel essential and has been forcibly sent home under the new law.”
Pokemon GO is indeed a game outside the home, which requires players to walk around, gather and carry out raids together. However, with the coronavirus forcing many players to stay in their homes for extended periods of time. Until now, there is still no feature for them to raid from home, and that may need to be a consideration for developers.
Niantic’s Revenue Increases Sharply

Of the types of games that rely on exploration, Pokemon GO should be less attractive because people have to do physical distancing. But like the news we shared earlier, Niantic actually got an increase in terms of revenue.
For those of you who don’t play this game, there are actually several new features made by Niantic. They offer bundle packages that are cheaper than usual for people at home. From that, it seems that many players are interested and make purchases.
Hopefully, Niantic can bring home-friendly features and the COVID-19 pandemic will be resolved quickly. What do you think about this news? We remind you not to follow the behavior of this man in England, okay? Stay healthy and wash your hands frequently
