Mesut Ozil removed from FIFA and PES in China!
Gamers in the bamboo curtain country can no longer play the character of the Gunners’ attacking midfielder. Criticism by Mesut Ozil on his social media accounts angered China. Because the criticism is aimed at the persecution of Uighur Muslims in China.
Due to this critic action, Mesut Ozil has now been removed from the list of players featured in the football video game. Ozil cannot be found in the game now FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer in China.
Why was Mesut Ozil removed from FIFA 20 & PES?
The decision to remove Ozil from the game came after a social media post made by the Germany international. He criticized China for its alleged persecution of Uighur Muslims in the northwestern region of the country.
As it is reported that a large number of ethnic minorities are being held in detention camps. The inhumane incident made Ozil furious and highlighted reports about the incident on the internet.
“East Turkistan, the ummah is hurt, against the persecutors who are trying to separate them from their religion. They burned their Quran. They closed their mosque. They banned their schooling. They killed people in the group.”

“Men were forced into the camps and their families were forced to live with Chinese men. Women are forced to marry Chinese men.”
Ozil continued
“But Muslims are silent. They will not make a sound. Many people left them. Don’t they know that giving consent to persecution is persecution itself? “

NetEase, the company that promotes Pro Evolution Soccer in China, chose to remove Ozil from their franchise. Arsenal, who have business interests in East Asia, moved quickly to distance themselves from Ozil’s comments.
Via Weibo (a popular Chinese social media platform) party Arsenal issued a statement that the views of their players did not represent the views of the club.

The answer is no, Arsenal fans overseas in China will still be able to play the great playmaker. Ozil remains in the game, both in the Arsenal squad for online and offline modes.
The only other player who has been left out of the game in the interim is Marco van Basten. He has come under fire for bad comments made on the internet while running a punditry stint on Dutch television.
EA Sports made the decision to suspend the ICON Van Basten items available in FIFA 20 Ultimate Team mode. They stated: “We are aware of the recent comments made by Marco van Basten. We have a commitment to equality and diversity upheld throughout our games.”
“As such, we will be suspending Marco van Basten’s ICON item from being available in packages, SBC, and FUT drafts until further notice.”
