Sony Will Refund Players Who Pre-ordered The Last of Us 2

The problems that approached The Last of Us part 2 seem to be unfinished. Some time ago, we reported that the game page for the latest project Naughty Dog has been removed by Sony from the PlayStation Store. Now another bad (or maybe good) news is back.

Sony seems to be making refunds for those who have pre-ordered the digital release on PS4. Is it true?

It all started when Sony announced it would postpone The Last of Us 2 on April 2. This delay itself occurs because the world is currently facing a corona outbreak which has caused problems in the logistics department. This big game company doesn’t seem to know when this game can be released so that it is committed to refunding users who have pre-ordered.

The news came from the Sony Support Portal. The site announced that Iron Man VR and The Last of Us Part 2 will not be launching according to the original release dates of May 15, 2022, and May 29, 2022, respectively. Please also note that all players who pre-ordered these games digitally will receive an automatic refund. Eligible people will receive an email from Sony.

However, Sony itself did not say when or when this email will be sent. So players are still wondering when to get their money back. Yes, it is also possible that the email will explain in more detail about this problem.

Is This Good News or Bad News?

Maybe some of us also ask if this is good or bad news. In our opinion, this news is quite good because Sony will be responsible for refunding players who may want to buy other games while they can’t get The Last of Us 2.

But the bad news, it also shows that this game is not going to release anytime soon and it will be longer than fans expected. We all know that the COVID-19 pandemic is unpredictable and the world is trying to solve it.

There’s actually an option to do an early digital release, but the developers don’t think it’s good. Through director Neil Druckman, they said that this game is intended for all gamers. Spoilers from the early digital releases seem to spoil the gaming experience for those who buy physical copies.

Hopefully, the obstacles we are currently facing will end soon and return to normal.
