FUNimation Entertainment announced Wednesday that it will screen the world premiere of the first episode of Attack on Titan season 3 in 130 US and Canadian theaters from July 10-11. The event will also include a screening of Attack on Titan: The Roar of Awakening, a recap of the film Attack on Titan season 2.

Screenings on Tuesday, July 10 will be in Japanese with English subtitles, while screenings on Wednesday, July 11 will be in English.

The screening will be the first time the Attack on Titan anime franchise installment will have a world premiere in North America.

The third season of Attack on Titan will premiere in Japan on July 22 at 24:35 (effectively July 23 at 12:45 a.m.) on NHK (the show will air at 25:15 in the Kansai region).

Funimation has acquired home entertainment, video on demand, and broadcast rights to the series in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

The Attack on Titan Season 2: Roar of Awakening (Gekijōban Shingeki no Kyōjin Season 2: Kakusei no Hōkō) film opens in Japan on June 13.

The first 25-episode series premiered in 2013, and a second, 12-episode season premiered in June 2022. Funimation and Crunchyroll both streamed the first and second seasons as they aired. The English dub of the second season premiered on Adult Swim’s Toonami programming block and on the Funimation streaming service in June 2022. Funimation released both seasons on home video.

The first season also inspired two compilation films. Attack on Titan Part 1 – Guren no Yumiya premiered in November 2014, and Attack on Titan Part 2 – Jiyuu no Tsubasa premiered in June 2015. The second film adds a new ending trailer linking the film to the second season. Funimation screened the films in the United States in June 2022
