As we know, the Valorant Champions Tour 2023 will change for this coming year 2023. Riot announced they would use the ‘partnership models’ where selected teams will play in three international leagues around the world.
Valorant League is divided into 3 regions, America, Europe and Asia. Reportedly, each league will have 8-10 teams in it.
Unlike some other esports franchise models where teams buy slots, teams don’t need to buy a slot franchise to compete.
Just like VCT 2021 and 2022, international leagues in VCT 2023 will help teams to collect points towards the Global Masters and Champions Tournaments. But Riot is also offering a number of fixed perks to certain teams in a bid to support their players and staff.
Pro Player Salary Rumors for the Valorant Franchise in 2023
With a franchise system, of course this will provide some protection for the players, such as the minimum salary they will get.
Rumored, the minimum salary for a player in the American league is approx $50,000 per year or IDR 737 Million per year, according to a VALORANTZone report in May. However, this figure is still subject to change. The allowance given by Riot will likely be used to pay the player salaries of the teams.
USD$50,000 is a sizeable number for Valorant players in Asia Pacific but probably very small for North America. Currently some of the biggest teams in North America are giving away USD$5000 to USD$20,000 per month.
For Indonesia itself, for the biggest teams in Esports Indonesia, they give their players a minimum salary of around IDR 4.5 million. So with the existence of this franchise league, it will provide a bigger salary increase for its players.
When League of Legends Korea (LCK) changed to a franchise system, the new minimum salary for LCK players increased to 60 million won or around IDR 684 million per year.

In 2019, Inven Global reported in a survey they conducted with 82 LCK players, showing the average salary of players in LCK was around 170 million Won or around IDR 1.9 billion, for 2018.
For LoL leagues in North America (LCS), the minimum salary for their players is USD $75,000. In the LPL or the LoL league in China, they can pay their best players in billions of rupiah.
This week is the last week where organizations that have a Valorant team can submit their proposals to be selected for this franchise league. According to Goerge Geddes of Dot Esports, Riot has requested financial details from the organization in addition to the team’s plans to produce content and marketing for VALORANT going forward.
Maybe in the future we will see many teams that will leave Valorant because only this Valorant international league can bring teams to major tournaments such as Masters and Champions.
