Paramount: Top Gun 3 Won't Be Made Anytime Soon

The CEO of Paramount Pictures has confirmed that a sequel to Top Gun 3 will not be made any time soon. Of course, his statement disappointed his fans.

On May 24, 2022, Paramount Pictures managed to release its newest film, which is a sequel to Top Gun (1986), namely Top Gun: Maverick. Thanks to an interesting storyline, the film, directed by Joseph Kosinski, has also received many positive reviews from film critics.

In fact, Top Gun: Maverick also managed to get money that was beyond expectations, you know! However, this series of achievements did not make Paramount Pictures rush in making a 3rd sequel.

Paramount Confirms Top Gun 3 Won’t Be Coming Soon

Not long ago, Paramount Pictures CEO Brian Robbins had an interview with Variety and alluded to rumors about a sequel to Top Gun 3 which he said would soon be worked on by his side.

From his statement, Brian did not provide a specific answer to the rumors. To be sure, he is very interested in returning to make the next Top Gun film, with Maverick as the main character. However, this will not happen anytime soon guys.

“Let’s see 35 years from now. I don’t want to speculate. This is an amazing journey. The sky is the limit for this film.” said Brian Robbins.

Of course, this news disappointed Top Gun fans who had wanted to see the continuation of Pete “Maverick” Mitchell’s story as the best Navy aviator.

But don’t worry, if the film Top Gun is really made again, then it is certain that the legendary actor Tom Cruise will reprise his role as Maverick. The role has indeed been attached to Tom Cruise, since making his debut in 1986 ago.

On the other hand, Paramount Pictures is currently involved in a legal case for being accused of copyright infringement related to the recently released film Top Gun: Maverick. This lawsuit comes from the wife and child of the late author of the article adapted by Top Gun, namely Ehud Yonay.

“Although the 2022 sequel is clearly derived from the article, Paramount knowingly failed to obtain a new license to the film and additional rights to the copyrighted article, after the American copyright was returned to Yonay on January 24, 2020,” the heirs said. , namely Shosh Yonay and Yuval Yonay.

However, Paramount Pictures is not too bothered by the case. It will continue to comply with legal procedures in force in America while collecting material to counter the allegations made by the prosecution.

“These claims are baseless, and we will defend ourselves vigorously,” Paramount said.
