Safe Ways Before Factory Reset Android So You Don't Regret
For those of you as an Android cellphone user, you must have encountered an error. This error can occur because of our mistakes as users such as installing the wrong, wrong settings or ever deleting an application but not completely, causing the system to hang/crash. Because of the constant error, usually without thinking, sometimes we immediately reset to factory settings or commonly called a factory reset.
Some of the reasons android users reset to factory settings / factory reset are as follows:
- Android users have deleted software/programs from the factory that caused HP performance to be disrupted (especially for rooted Android)
- Software often crashes and sometimes closes itself (force close). For example, the keyboard menu does not work while typing.
- The android system becomes heavy and often crashes due to incorrect installation or other reasons.
- There are many other things that cause Android to hang, crash, or force close.
Usually, this is the reason that Android users decide to reset their cellphones to initial settings / factory reset. But for those who buy second hand cellphones, usually without thinking they immediately do a factory reset of the cellphone. Here are the things that will happen if you do a factory reset:
- All additional applications that have been installed will disappear automatically.
- If there are contacts stored in the HP memory, then all these contacts will be lost. Except for the contacts on the SIM card
- All data, whether it’s documents, photos, videos, songs, whatever it is, will be deleted.
- Basically a factory reset restores the condition of the cellphone like a new factory output. You have to reset everything like buying a new cellphone.
If you see the effects of a factory reset above, of course you will hesitate to do it, especially if you have important data stored on your cellphone. But don’t worry, here are tips so that important data on Android is not lost during a factory reset.
How to Safely Restore Android Data to After Factory/Factory Reset
1. Backup Applications That Are Considered Important
By backing up applications that are considered important, it means minimizing the risk of losing applications when you factory reset your Android. For the steps as follows
– First download ES File Manager | File Explorer on Google Play Store
– In order not to be lost during a factory reset, move the ES File Manager application to external memory (SD Card). The way to move is as follows:
- Press and hold the application until it says “Uninstall” and “App info”
- Select “App info” then move it to external memory (SD Card)
– If the application has been moved to external memory, open the application and it will look as follows. Select the “APP” menu in the category circled in red
– Your files are all in the local Apps section, while the Recommended Apps are just ads
– Select and check the application to be backed up from android
– If all applications have been selected for backup then select the icon circled in red in the image above for the backup process.
– This backup process takes a long time, so make sure the HP battery is fully charged so that the backup process runs perfectly.
– After the Android data backup process is complete, you can check the results at:
File manager>External Memory/SD Card>Backups/apps/
– Done!
2. Move Important Documents/Files
To move important files such as documents, photos, videos, music and others is not too complicated like the application above. Just go to File manager, select all the files to be backed up and move them to external memory/SD card.
3. Copy contacts to SIM Card
This step must be done manually and cannot be automated. You have to copy them one by one the contacts that you feel are important. The purpose of copying contacts to the SIM card is so that the contacts do not disappear when a factory reset is carried out.
Well, if you have done steps 1 to 3 above, the next step is to factory reset your Android phone.
How to Restore Android to Factory Settings (Factory Reset)
There are 2 ways to return Android to factory settings / factory reset. Soft Reset or Hard Reset
Note: make sure the SIM card is removed first to avoid the factory reset process from failing.
How to Factory Reset – Soft Reset
How to reset this is done through the settings menu on Android. For light problems and Android doesn’t hang/crash, this method can be used. The method is as follows:
- Enter the settings menu
- Select “Backup & Reset” then select “Erase All Data (factory reset)
- Select and tick the requested information, and press “reset device”
- This step is complete, the android phone will do the reset process, and when the reset process is complete, the cellphone will restart automatically and the display will return to like new
How to Factory Reset – Hard Reset
This method is done if it is forced and this method is indeed forced. Times like android phone crashes, hangs and menus don’t work, then a hard reset can be done. Before performing the hard reset process, make sure the battery is fully charged so that the backup process is not interrupted due to running out of battery.
Every cellphone has a different hard reset method. But all the hard reset methods are carried out when the cellphone is in a dead condition. Here’s how to factory reset with a hard reset with various types of HP brands.
