13 Ways to Overcome Windows 10 so it Doesn't Waste Internet Quota

Windows 10 sucks up a lot of internet quota silently…

Kumparantekno – Have you ever felt when Using the Windows 10 OS, your internet speed seems to slow down, accompanied by extravagant quota until the internet package suddenly swells?

You can breathe a sigh of relief, because the majority (Windows 10 users) are also experiencing this problem. There are so many out there, “efficient quota” knights who complain about one of Windows 10’s weaknesses.

So the question is, what causes it? slow internet speed accompanied by fast running out of quota on Windows 10 the?

It turns out that this is the boss, the answer is…

The latest operating system called Windows 10 is actually “different” from previous versions of Windows. (obviously, yes it is different)

The difference which is the “main factor” causing the wasteful internet quota is due to the existence of several “new” components that are embedded in Windows 10.

What component is that boss?

This is you boss, a built-in feature of Windows 10!

The Windows 10 built-in component or feature that I mean is…

  • windows”Auto Update” (no setting for “disabled”)
  • Microsoft “OneDrive” (the “cloud” storage feature)
  • Microsoft “Modern Apps” (Email, Weather, Xbox, Maps, etc.)
  • Peer to Peer Update (Features like a torrent system)
  • And so on… (There are still other factors)

All of the components above are set by default in such a way as to be active the first time Windows 10 is installed, which means that ordinary users will most likely not know about the hidden system that drains internet quota.

Actually, there are other “mystical” Windows components that might cause excessive internet quota usage. (only God and Microsoft knows)

So, what should I do?

After an adventure in the “sea of information” owned by mbah Google. Finally I found some references on how to prevent excessive internet usage on Windows 10.

To solve this problem, you can do some simple steps below.

1. Turn off the Windows Auto Update Feature

Windows 10 Automatic Updates

The WindowsUpdate feature actually existed in previous versions of Windows. The difference in the Windows 10 version is that the setting for “disable” WindowsUpdate has been removed.

Quite strange indeed. In fact, not all Windows 10 users need regular updates. (especially users in Indonesia)

Therefore, to be able to turn off the autoUpdate feature, you have to do it manually, namely by using “Services.msc”.

How to?

If you want to know about how to disable autoUpdate using “services.msc”, please read the reference in my article, 20 Windows Services that are Safe to Stop!

2. Turn off Windows Cloud Features

OneDrive on Windows 10

One of the Cloud features I mean is “One Drive”. Please disable the “One Drive” feature so that your files such as photos, videos, etc. do not automatically upload to Microsoft servers.

Apart from draining your internet quota, this Windows “One Drive” feature can also reduce your computer’s performance. Because, if One Drive is active, then the service will also be active in the background.

3. Uninstall/Remove Windows “Modern App”.

Windows 10 Modern Apps

In my opinion, point number 3 is quite extreme because if you want to save your internet quota, delete “Modern Apps” such as Email, Weather, Xbox, Maps, Facebook, Messenger, Line, News, etc.

For point number 3 I don’t do this, because if you do, it will simultaneously eliminate the “sensation” (main value) (checkered application) in Windows 10 itself.

The choice is in your hands.

4. Enable “Metered Connection”…

Windows 10 Metered Connection

And finally, activate the “Metered Connection” mode. According to several references I read on the internet, by activating the “Metered Connection” mode, the internet quota usage on Windows 10 will be controlled.

5. Turn off Peer-to-Peer Update

Turn off the peer to peer feature in Windows 10

This Peer to Peer feature allows all Windows 10 users in the world to share update files with each other. What’s the goal? Yes, so that the update process can run more quickly and efficiently, because it doesn’t only depend on Microsoft servers.

As for the negative impact, every Windows 10 user will do a mass upload to help other Windows 10 users. (closest distance, like a torrent)

If you want to save quota on Windows 10, just turn off this feature.

6. Turn off Cloud Based Protection & Sample Submission

Disable the Cloud Based Protection feature in Windows 10

I actually don’t recommend this method for you to do. Because, by turning off this feature, the security on Windows 10 will “decrease” compared to the default preset.

The main function of Cloud Based Protection is to send information on security issues on Windows 10 that you (maybe) are experiencing.

With the help of this Cloud Based Protection, the process of repairing system damage can be handled by Microsoft relatively quickly.

As for Sample Submission, it aims to send malware samples that have/have been detected by the Windows 10 OS.

The point is, these two features can be said to be important enough to keep Windows 10 safe in everyday use.

7. Turn off OneDrive Sync

Turn off the OneDrive sync feature

One Drive has almost the same features as Google Drive, which is for online data/file storage on the associated server.

With the Synchronization feature active on OneDrive, several photo files, music and other files will also be stored in Microsoft’s cloud storage media.

My advice, it’s better to just turn off this feature.

8. Turn off Sync Settings

Turn off sync settings if you don’t really need them

The Sync Settings feature functions as a store of personal settings that users have previously done on other devices.

So when you have made settings for Windows 10 on another computer, these settings will be saved in your Outlook account when you log back in on another computer. (PCs, Laptops, Tablets, etc.)

9. Turn off Automatic Updates for each Application

Check some installed applications that have an automatic update feature

Every application that is installed on Windows, usually has an “automatic update” in the application settings. These updates are usually to fix bugs or add features that don’t yet exist in the application.

If you want to save on quota, it’s better to check one by one the application that has an automatic update feature. (Example: Modern App, Adobe, FFactory, Mozilla Firefox, Chrome, etc.)

10. Always Monitor Data Usage in Applications in Windows 10

To ensure that the use of Windows 10 internet quota remains safely under control, monitoring is also necessary.

Monitoring what I mean is, check how much internet quota you have used up in 1 day/week.

By doing this, of course it will have a positive impact on the process of saving quota on Windows 10. (although it’s a bit of a hassle)

11. Disable/Turn off the Cortana feature

Disable the cortana feature in Windows 10

The Cortana feature in Windows 10 is really cool and up to date.

However, all the amazing features it brings still depend a lot on an internet connection. This of course will use the amount of quota you have, compared to Windows 8, which at that time did not have Cortana.

For me, it’s better to just turn off Cortana.

12. Turn off Live Tiles

Windows 10 live tiles

Just as an extra…

Even though it only takes up “a little” of the existing internet quota, this feature actually sucks up the existing internet quota. (Windows 7 has no such thing yet)

Turn it off immediately, if you really prioritize “efficient quota” compared to a beautiful “look”.

13. Got anything else to add?

Do you have any (other) suggestions for saving internet quota on Windows 10?

If so, then there’s nothing wrong with sharing information and completing this simple step number 13. (let it be more complete and abundant)

If not, then it’s okay…

Notes…

The 13 points above are common ways to save internet quota on Windows 10 (other blogs have also discussed this).

And after doing the 13 points above, in my personal opinion, internet use on Windows 10 can still be said to be “more wasteful” compared to the previous Windows.

Augustbe there are other components that I haven’t mentioned above that can trigger excessive internet quota usage on Windows 10.

So, in your opinion, what causes the internet quota on Windows 10 to run out quickly?

Do you know any other factors?

Conclusion…

You need to know that the “system default” in Windows 10 currently requires you to use a “more” quota compared to previous versions of Windows.

Therefore you have to change the Windows 10 “default system” to a better direction (at least, it can be more economical) even though this method cannot make 100% Your Windows 10 is more efficient than the previous Windows.

There are still many things we don’t know, especially about Microsoft’s business strategy.

That’s all…

That’s the article about 13 Ways to Overcome Windows 10 so it Doesn’t Waste Internet Quota. Hopefully the information I wrote through the article above can be useful for those of you who read it.
