4 Ways to View Laptop Serial Numbers for All Brands
How to View Laptop Serial Number – The serial number is a unique number that functions as an identity for a product. Every electronic product, especially gadgets, such as laptops and notebooks, must have a different serial number.
In certain conditions, this serial number is really needed, but many of us don’t know how to see the laptop serial number.
Checking the laptop’s identity number is very necessary!
For example, when you want to buy a used laptop or a new laptop, to find out the authenticity of the laptop you have to check the serial number of the laptop, by matching the serial number on the packaging and on the laptop system itself.
Serial numbers on laptops usually use a combination of capital letters and numbers consisting of 22 characters. You can see an example of this in the picture of the rear body of my Acer laptop below.

This tutorial can be done for all laptop brands and is applied specifically to Windows operating systems, such as Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10.
1. First open the application CMD.
To do this, press the button Windows + R simultaneously > type CMD > click OK/Enter.

Find out the Laptop Serial Number via Windows PowerShell

This method can be done if the OEM stores the serial number in the BIOS or UEFI.
Check Laptop Serial Number Via BIOS
Computer users must be familiar with BIOS. BIOS is often used by technicians to initialize hardware and troubleshoot computers/laptops.
Wow, why are you even discussing the settings!
Don’t worry, in this content I won’t go off the discussion track. Apart from troubleshooting, BIOS also displays information on the components on the laptop, such as the processor, system BIOS, product name and also information on the laptop serial number.
Here is an example of how to enter BIOS to see Acer laptop serial number.
1. Turn on the laptop by pressing the Power button.
2. Press the button F2 when the info appears “Press F2 to enter setup“.
3. Will be taken directly to the BIOS interface.
On the menu information You can see lots of information on laptop component names and serial numbers.
If you’ve never entered BIOS and don’t understand the settings, don’t bother with it. Focus on looking at the serial number, don’t forget to note it down, then immediately exit.
Knowing the Serial Number on the Laptop Body
The easiest way to check a laptop serial number is to look at the back of the laptop body. Every laptop must have important information displayed briefly on its body.
So, for the serial number, it is generally affixed to the back of the laptop. For example, I have this old school Acer laptop.
Every laptop should have one, the sticker is also strong and durable, doesn’t come off easily.
The final word
Those are 4 ways you can see the laptop serial number.
Remember! The first and second methods can only be done on laptops that use the Windows operating system, not Linux or other operating systems, because the commands may be different.
Actually, there are 2 more ways, namely by looking at the laptop box and the manual. I deliberately didn’t discuss it, because it’s quite complicated and maybe I’ve lost it or forgotten where I put it. So the 4 methods above are the easiest and most certain ways to get it.
OK, that’s enough, hope it helps.
