How to Make a Sitemap on Blogger (Complete Guide)
It’s been a long time since I wrote an article about blogging, hehee.
On this occasion I want to share an article about Sitemaps on Blogger. Starting from how to create a sitemap on a blog, registering a sitemap with Google Webmaster to creating a sitemap page to make things easier for visitors.
Please read and follow the steps in the order I have created, so that you understand the function and purpose of creating a sitemap on this blog.
What is a Blogger Sitemap?
A sitemap is a collection of information in the form of a directory of blog site web pages. The contents of the Sitemap itself are in the form of URL lines or post links on your blog site.
XML sitemaps can help search engines find your blog post pages. Sitemaps created using this tool support all search engines, including Google and Bing.
The benefits of creating a sitemap for a blog are as follows:
- Quickly in the Search Engine Index
- Increase Visitors
- Make it easier for visitors
By creating a sitemap, it allows all posts on your blog to be indexed by search bots.
If search engines crawl your blog site smoothly, it is likely that your posts will rank high in search results and will have more visitors.

Apart from making it easier for search bots to crawl blog posts, visitors will also easily see what posts are on your blog.

- First visit the website https://www.labnol.org/blogger/sitemap/. The appearance of the generator tool is as shown in the following image.
- Enter your blog address in the column provided, then click the button GENERATE SITEMAP.
- Automatically an XML Sitemap for your blog will be created.
- Copy and save all the generated code, then we will move on to the next stage.
How to Create a Blog Sitemap in Google Webmaster Tools
After creating a blog sitemap using the sitemap generator, you must submit the blog sitemap to Google Webmaster.
The function of submitting to Google Webmaster is so that the blog appears in Google searches quickly.
Here is how to submit a sitemap to Google Webmaster tools.
- First visit the Google Search Console page via the following link https://search.google.com/search-console.
- First register your blog with the webmaster until it’s finished. (Look for a tutorial on how to register a blog with Google Webmaster).
- Next open the menu Sitemap / Sitemap. Enter the URL of the sitemap that you created using the blogger sitemap generator.
- Click the button SEND so that the sitemap is read by Google’s indexing robot.
- Finished.
Example : https://www.verhan.id/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500
If necessary, also add a sitemap URL like my blog’s.
How to Add a Sitemap on Blogger
This stage actually doesn’t need to be done because you have previously submitted a sitemap to Google Webmaster. But usually I also add it to Blogger.
So, if you want to follow my method, please follow the steps below.
- Now log in to the Blogger.com dashboard.
- Go to menu Settings. And enable custom robots.txt.
- Then paste all the code that was created using the sitemap generator tool.
- Last click Save.
