E3 Cancels, Gamescom Moves On and Opens Online Ticket Sales
While several high-profile video game events have been pushed back by the rise of the coronavirus, there is one event that seems to be moving forward. Gamescom remains scheduled for August 25-29 in Cologne, Germany coming at full speed.
The organizers of Gamescom confirmed that they are working on preparations for the upcoming event. Of course this is related to the opening of online ticket sales for Gamescom today.
What’s the Talk About Coronavirus
The Gamescom team has indeed posted a new notification on the official website that talks about the coronavirus. “For each individual event, you will evaluate the recommendations of the responsibilities for this major event and, as before, we will make the decision after careful deliberation.”
The notification does appear to be aimed at the problem being experienced right now. However, Gamescom’s plan will continue no matter what. Gamescom said it would make some changes to the upcoming event. They will prepare reasonable precautions and increase the availability of Disinfectants.
In addition, frequently visited areas will be cleaned with a higher frequency and on-site medical staff will be prepared for possible suspicious cases. Gamescom will not be canceled unless there is a need for it.
Already Open Online Ticket Sales
As we said above, Gamescom has now opened their online ticket sales. This was also announced via Twitter with a countdown of 170 days.
Meanwhile, several other major gaming events have been cancelled. Initially Emerald City Comic Con was canceled by the organizers because the area used was one of the most crowded. Later, ESA also announced that E3 2022 was also canceled after hearing the considerations given by their partners.
Hopefully, the Coronavirus cases will be over sooner and another big game event will be able to take place even though it is later than the planned time.
