Sony: PS5 Might Get a Pro Version!
PS5 it’s possible to get a Pro version with better specs and performance, says Sony. The company has confirmed that the PS5’s release date will be in the 2022 holiday season, but it seems Sony is also thinking about plans for a pro version for the console after launch.
Executive VP of hardware engineering and operations at Sony Interactive Entertainment Masayusu Ito says that the cycle of a new console is usually seven to 10 years. Due to the extremely fast development and evolution of technology, this latest console may only last for six to seven years.
“Sony views the cycle for the PS5 as only six to seven years. The company is constantly working on changing the hardware and trying to incorporate the latest technology into the game.” Ito said
Previously, Sony had added new technology to the PS4, Ito said. Ito said that the “test case” of the idea of a console cycle still running with hardware upgrades is the PS4 Pro, which launched a few years after the PS4’s release.
Although there’s no official confirmation yet, it looks like Sony has something planned for the PlayStation 5 Pro
PS4 Pro is a console with more powerful performance than the PS4. This technology allows players to enjoy 4K graphics in games such as Rise of the Tomb Raider, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Shadow of the Colossus.
Ito didn’t officially confirm that the PS5 Pro console would be released, it looks like Sony had that planned. Sony hasn’t revealed sales figures for the PS4 Pro either, but PlayStation 4 is one of the best-selling game consoles in history.
The PS4 Pro also helps Sony fight off competition with the Xbox One X, which is Microsoft’s powerful mid-cycle console. And this can certainly support the idea of releasing the PS5 Pro.
Sony and Microsoft Continually Compete In Advancing Their Own Console
If Sony did choose to release the PS5 Pro, it wouldn’t be the only company thinking about making two consoles for the next generation. There are also rumors Microsoft who plans two consoles on Xbox Project Scarlett.
Rumor has it that there will be Anaconda, a more powerful console, and Lockhart which is a console that is more affordable and doesn’t have a disk drive.
