Imaizumi Yui Pregnant and Married to Watanabe Mahoto Reaps Controversy
Former member of Sakurazaka46, Imaizumi Yui is pregnant and announced that she will soon marry herself with a Japanese YouTuber, Watanabe Mahoto.
This news, of course, shocked the public, from Sakamichi Series fans, to Watanabemato fans themselves. On social media Twitter, the phrase “Imaizumi Yui married” became a trending topic.
The two of them first dated in the spring of 2022 when Mahoto Watanabe was known to invite Yui Imaizumi to ‘play’ in his apartment. Since then, the two of them have been dating frequently.
The relationship and marriage of Zuumin and Watanabe Mahoto has drawn controversy. Not because Imaizumi Yui was pregnant 5 months before marriage, but many people, especially Keyakizaka46 / Sakurazaka46 fans, regretted that Imaizumi Yui chose this man as a potential husband.
The reason is, based on this YouTuber’s track record, he often violates the rules and acts inappropriately. In June 2022 Watanabe Mahoto was arrested by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police for his actions in molesting a woman who in fact was an ex-girlfriend.
As a result of this case, Mahoto Watanabe decided to take a hiatus to create YouTube content. His agency UUUM apologized for their client’s actions.
Then a few months later he returned to YouTube, his name was sticking out again not because of his achievements, Watanabemato received social sanctions in the form of criticism & scathing comments from local netizens for his actions to carry out pranks that were beyond normal limits against Japanese women.
On the 2ch forum and Twitter, a screenshot of Watanabe Mahoto’s conversation with a 15-year-old woman circulated. Mahoto asked for a photo of the girl wearing only the interior while holding an identity card.
It is this series of scandalous track records and the Watanabe Mahoto case that makes Imaizumi Yui fans feel worried and not sure that Zuumin’s future husband can take care of their idol.
Now Zuumin’s agency has confirmed the news that Imaizumi Yui is pregnant and soon to be married to Watanabe Mahoto. Since graduating from Sakurazaka46, his name often doesn’t appear.
Even several times Zuumin was reportedly close to a man who was 10 years older than him before Imaizumi Yui married and became pregnant with Watanabe Mato. The contents of an Instagram DM conversation on the Japan forum also circulated, a member of the Yui family who satirized Zuumin’s future husband.
Fans also gave mixed reactions. “I don’t care about Yui Imaizumi’s marriage and pregnancy, but I’m just worried that she chose the wrong partner.” write fan comments on IG.
“He (Watanabe Mahoto) is very barbaric and has no respect for women. I hope Yui-chan will be fine, I’m looking forward to what Imaizumi Yui’s child will be.” said another comment.
Friends, of course, hope that Watanabe Mahoto will change his character and attitude after marrying Imaizumi Yui and having children later. Fans expected this because one of the cases he did was known & realized directly by Zuumin when they were dating.
Even though Imaizumi Yui is married and pregnant with Watanabe Mahoto, the former member of Keyakizaka46 said he will not stop pursuing a career in the entertainment world. She will return after giving birth to her first child.
