6 Ways to Take Screenshots on Windows 7, 8 and 10 Laptop PCs
Do screenshots of computer desktop displays in many ways |
Actually there are many ways to do it taking pictures / screenshots on a laptop or computer screen display. And the method is also quite easy and simple.
You can use the default Windows application, you can also use other additional applications that have been downloaded from the internet.
How to screenshot a computer screen display
Another term for taking a computer screen display can also be called a screen capture. But the term is relatively less used, compared to the word “Screenshot”.
So according to the title above, later I will explain some simple steps in taking screenshots using the default application on the Windows OS + using a third-party application.
The screenshot method I mean is like below…
1. Using the Snipping Tool
The first is to use an application called Snipping Tool.
This application is a Windows OS default program that is directly installed and available on Windows 7, 8 and Windows 10 OS.
Do a search, then type “Snipping Tool” |
To use this application, just do a search in the Search Bar, then type “Snipping Tool” there. Then the Snipping Tool application will appear, just press Enter.
Slide which area you want to screenshot |
As for how to use it, just press “New”, then drag/select which area you want to take to make an image.
2. Using the keyboard keys
Take a look at the keyboard of the laptop or computer keyboard that you are using. I can confirm, of course there is a button called “Prt Scr” or “Print Screen”.
The button functions as a command in carrying out the screenshot function on the screen display.
Unlike the Snipping Tool earlier, if you use the “Prt Scr” button, the screenshot will automatically take the entire screen WITHOUT being able to select whichever one you want to make a screenshot image of.
How to use it like this…
Prepare which desktop display you want to screenshot. Then press the “Prt Scr” button only 1x.
After pressing the button 1x earlier, the image display on the desktop will be saved on the clipboard. Now your job is to paste the saved image into the media exporter.
The media extractor that I mean can be Adobe Photoshop, Word, Paint, and similar programs.
Now, so you don’t have to bother installing other additional applications, therefore, just use the default Windows application called “Paint”.
Open the Paint application, then PASTE there using the Ctrl + V command button.
Paste in the Paint OS Windows application |
After pressing the Ctrl + V button, the image will be pasted / pasted in the Paint application earlier.
Next, what you need to do is save the PASTE image in JPG format, by selecting Save Us (Ctrl + Shift + S) then selecting the location where the file will be saved.
Save the PASTE image in the Paint application |
Done, then the screenshot JPG file will be created.
3. Using the command Windows + Prt Sc
Another way that is fairly easy next is by pressing the button Windows + PrtSc on the keyboard.
After pressing the two buttons simultaneously, the screen will flash briefly indicating that the file has been saved in a personal folder called “Pictures”. Below is the location of the Pictures folder I mean:
The location of the screenshot result file Windows + PrtScr |
Have found?
4. Using the Lightshot application
Unlike the 3 ways that I mentioned earlier above, this method requires you to download applications from other parties that are already available on the internet.
Download, then install as usual. Download links lightshot is at https://prnt.sc/ (according to the OS you are using)
How to use Lightshot:
After the Lightshot application is installed, the “Prt Scr” button will change to a command specifically for the Lightshot application.
Display when screenshots using Lightshot |
Press the “Prt Scr” button, then select which part you want to screenshot, then press the Save logo on the available menu. (you can also make edits before saving)
It’s very easy…
I’m sure, surely you will understand by yourself.
If it’s not clear, watch how to use the video version of Lightshot below.

Hope this makes you understand more…
5. Using Alt + Prt
I use method number 5 very rarely, because in my opinion it doesn’t fit well and is in accordance with the desired results.
The results of this screenshot method only display the window area / window only.
So the taskbar and desktop will not be captured.
6. Nothing yet…
So far there is no other way that I can add to take screenshots on Windows OS, because that seems to be all there is.
Conclusion…
So the conclusion is, choose which method you think is the easiest to use. (not complicated)
Notes…
Remember, the points I wrote above are my own personal opinion. So it’s only natural if there are things that don’t suit/agree with those of you who are reading this article.
