How to Overcome FlashDisk Write Protect
Write Protect is a command to lock the FlashDisk, so if you have this problem, the FlashDisk will not be able to: Format, Copy Files, etc. According to several sources, the cause of Write Protect is a virus, it doesn’t eject the FlashDisk when it’s about to be removed, it’s actually from the computer/laptop itself. To overcome this, we can use several methods, ranging from simple to complex.
Method 1:
1. Click the search field and type “Regedit” then open it
2. Then open the following registry:
3. Right click on “Write Protect” select “Modify”
4. Change the number “1” to “0”
5. Done!
Method 2:
1. Enter “Recovery Windows”, how to enter Windows 10 Recovery: Click Here
2. Then Open “CMD”
3. In CMD type the following:
- “Diskpart”, wait for the scan process to finish
- Type “List Disk”, then specify which is your FlashDisk disk
- Then type “Select Disk 1”, 1 is an example of a FlashDisk disk, not all on disk 1
- Type “attributes disk clear readonly”, wait until the words “cleared successfully” appear
- Type “attibutes disk”, then check whether “Current Read-only state : No”,
if it’s No, go to no.4
if still Yes, go to no.6
4. If “Current Read-only state: No”, then restart the computer
5. Done, Write Protect is gone
6. If “Current Read-only state: Yes”, then you need to do method 3
Method 3:
1. Download “ChipGenius”, then install and run it
2. Then let the scan process finish
3. After the scan is complete, check at the bottom/end, there will be words “Tools on web”
4. Copy the link, then paste it into your browser
5. Download the tools, then run according to the respective FD brand”
In method 3, the tools for each FlashDisk are different, so you can find tutorials on how to use the tools via YouTube. For a Kingston flash drive (maybe nobody is using it now) you can use AlcorMP like admin
Method 4:
1. Download HDD Low Level Format, activate using the “License” that has been given
2. Run, then select your FlashDisk then click “Continue”
3. Run the Format process
4. Done
Notes:
Actually there are many more methods that can be used, but number 3 is more effective because the admin himself has tried various ways, maybe there are 9 more ways, but only number 3 works. So, my suggestion is that you try to find good tools. number 3 can also be used in the case of a FlashDisk that asks to be formatted continuously.
