Playing GTA 5 on a Computer (Laptop) with only 2GB RAM, Can I or not?

Kumparantekno – In the past, I once uploaded an amateur video about an old school computer struggling to play the giant game from Rockstar Games, namely Grand Theft Auto 5 or GTA 5 which is usually shortened.

At first, I was just experimenting (sound muted) when uploading a GTA 5 gameplay video on that old school computer. And that can be said to be the first/initial video that I uploaded on Youtube.

Now, from the GTA 5 amateur gameplay video that I uploaded on YouTube, it turns out that there are lots of comments from other low-budget gamers who are astonished. How come you can play an old school computer like Grand Theft Auto 5?

Old Computer Specifications…

For those of you who don’t know, how old is the computer that I’m using? Therefore, below I have written down the old computer specifications that I used to try to play the Grand Theft Auto 5 PC game.

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 Ghz
Nvidia GT520 1GB
HDD 320GB
2GB of RAM

With these very old-school computer specifications, I can play Grand Theft Auto 5 with the consequence, an unsatisfactory Frame Rate. (sober)

How to do?

There are no special tricks to be able to play Grand Theft Auto 5 on the old school specifications above. All I did was download the game, install it, then just open the GTA 5 PC game on that old school computer.

I suggest closing all unused applications that are active in the background on the computer/laptop you are using. This is intended so that the software is running optimally and of course in the maximum possible performance. (according to computer capability)

To provide a reference for other low-budget gamers who are still not sure whether their computer/laptop can play GTA 5 or not, I have also uploaded a GTA 5 gameplay video with other low specifications.

It’s different from the previous video which showed GTA 5 gameplay on a “computer”. In the video that I uploaded next, it shows the GTA 5 gameplay video on a “Laptop” which of course also has 2GB of RAM.

Old Laptop Specifications…

At first glance, the specifications on this laptop are not much different from the computer I used before. The difference lies only in the newer processor, namely the Intel Core i3.

The frame rate of Grand Theft Auto 5 on a laptop is superior compared to the frame rate that can be obtained on a computer (Core 2 Duo). In my personal opinion, this is because the processor on the laptop already uses an Intel Core i3.

According to information I got through discussions about the world of gaming, that games of the “Open World” type, for example GTA5, Watchdogs, Mafia III, etc., prioritize the performance of the CPU.

The cool term for this problem is “CPU Bound”. You can understand more deeply about CPU Bound and GPU Bound via the “Tangan Belang”, “Gaptek.id” or “Jagat Review” Channels.

Addition…

There are several tricks so that the frame rate that you get when playing GTA 5 on an old school PC can be even more optimal, the method is by adding a MOD called “GTA 5 for Super Low PC’s FPS Lag Patch”

Honestly, I don’t like the MOD Low Patch above because it will significantly reduce the graphics quality. It’s true that FPS can increase, but the image quality will decrease extremely. (really extreme)

Therefore, I don’t recommend you to use this Low Patch MOD if you don’t want to lose the real “thrill” when playing the big game called “Grand Theft Auto 5”.

Before that, you must first check the specifications (minimum & recommended) of the PC/Laptop that you are using before trying this GTA5 PC. And don’t ask the question “is it possible to play gta5 on windows 32bit or not?” (already has an article)

Conclusion…

By using a computer or laptop that only has 2GB of RAM, it is possible for you to be able to play Grand Theft Auto 5.

You can still taste this game even though you only have 2GB of RAM. But still, to get the real gaming experience, you are advised to obey “minimum specifications” from the game.

Hopefully my writing above can be a reference for those of you who still don’t know/are sure about whether or not old-school computers/laptops can play phenomenal games (GTA 5), especially for computer/laptop users who are only equipped with 2GB of RAM.
